The Second-Speaking Situation

Saturday, June 19, 2010
Had a great time with Aileen Loo, Sean Beh and Sze Teng at The Gardens last Thursday. The main reason of the meet up was to discuss the upcoming and concerning club affairs for the school's debating unit. We spent the entire morning at our favourite coffee bistro, Starbucks, but we didn't really get anything for we were on a tight budget.

Later, a few minutes before noon, we headed over to the nearest theater, The GSC Signature, and ended up watching a movie, 'The Karate Kid'. The plot is around a 12 year old boy, named Dre Parker, living in Detroit when his mother, Sherry, gets a job in China. Once in China, Dre misses home and wants to go back to the States. His mother tells him that China is home now, and he must learn to accept his new home.
Dre begins to like China when he falls for his classmate Mei Ying. His feelings for Mei Ying are seen by Cheng, the class bully who is out to stop it.
Cheng puts Dre to the ground with ease using his Kung Fu training. Dre doesn't have a chance using the little karate that he knows, and Cheng proves it the next time he sees Dre.
He is getting beaten badly when Han, the maintenance man, secretly a Kung Fu Master, stops the fight. Dre persuades Han to teach him Kung Fu. With this knowledge, Dre must now face down Cheng in a fight to win his respect in a Kung Fu tournament.
I kind of liked the movie, but Aileen and I were freezing throughout the entire show.
Soon, we were talking about how sharp the nipples on the mannequins in the department stores were (weird, I know), and headed for lunch at Carl's Jr. There, we caught sight of Sze Teng and she seemed pretty mad at something. She was in a bad mood, but we weren't going to let that spoil our day.
Anyway, we ended our discussion there and hanged around the mall. Strange thing was, we noticed that most of the things we saw around us resembled of Becca Chong. For example, the kiddie posters, fairies, statues and the 'Toy Story 3' mascots. Lots of fantasy stuff.
We actually waited in line to get photographed with some of the mascots, but we were told that we had to wait for a long time, so we gave up.

Aileen and I, waiting in the line. 16!

We snapped a lot of photos along the way, hoping to tag Becca in all of them as soon as we got back.
But what caught our attention the most was this toy car that was operated by a coin slot machine, similar to the one Chee Hong rode a few weeks ago, but instead, it was a car. We immediately thought of Becca, and squeezed ourselves in it, forgetting that we left 2 cups of iced lemon tea on the hood of the car.
Well, I managed to get myself in the car alright, but there wasn't any room for my legs.
Just then, Aileen came in from the other side of the car, and guess what? The whole car shook and jolted. One of the drinks on the hood of the car toppled over. Actually, I managed to jump out of the car and tried to save it at first, but it slipped right through my hands. Fail.
At that instant, all eyes were on us, so we quickly made out exit, not looking at the glares from the crowd. Yes, we left the drink there, just like that.
But seriously, Becca was missing out on the fun. There were even people dressed in princess cosplay costumes. She would've loved it. I think I'm making her sound like a kid.
I wonder where did she disappear to?

Aileen and Sean.

Not forgetting Sze Teng.

Don't even try.
