Cheering In Vain

Screamed my lungs out for our school's cheerleading teams, 'Calyx All-Girls', and 'Calyx All-Guys', with Tet Sean, Leandra Lee, Ashlee Lim, Emily Quek and Suet Teng, for the past 2 days at the annual cheerleading competition, 'Cheer 2010', held in the Putra Indoor Stadium, Bukit Jalil. The atmosphere in the stadium was crazy. Supporters, teachers and parents could be seen screaming, cheering and waving their respective banners proudly throughout the entire event.

We had a fantastic time supporting and watching more than 35 teams nationwide perform exciting routines that include exhilarating stunts and adrenaline-pumping dance moves, competing against each other. Some of the teams didn't really satisfy the crowd, but there were some that pleased and sent the audience into a state of shock with their anticipating stunts and cheers. It was a great experience to see the teams train so hard & put in their all, and in the end, paid off.
The hosts for the event were Red FM DJs, Jeremy Teo and Terry Ong.

Sean, Leandra and I were even interviewed by the BRATs, a programme by the local newspaper, 'The Star', to train young writers to become good journalists and reporters.
The peak point of the event was on the second day, when the winners of the competition were announced. The team from Sri KL, the 'Cyrens', walked away as champions, leaving the defending champions, 'Blitzers' at the second spot.
Both of our teams failed to make it to the top 5 this year. All of us thought that both our teams pulled off a pretty great show. Strange. We were the second runner-ups for the event last year, and won the award for 'Best Makeup'.
We took second for the 'Best Makeup' this year, with 'D*Starz' of Sri Aman at the top, but they barely had any makeup on at all!

Even though we managed to only walk away with one prize, it was the spirit that kept us all going, and we're really proud of the achievements succeeded by both the teams.
You get my vote on this one, pinks!

Can you spot us?

I never needed your sympathy.
